| VINS |
A private, non-profit organization, founded in
1981, whose mission is to provide volunteers in all of Northampton's
public schools. An application for volunteers appears on the
site as well as a "wish list" for some of the Northampton
schools

Established in 1991,
the Northampton Education Foundation (NEF) is a non-profit
organization created to fund projects and programs that expand
educational opportunities, foster creativity, and enhance academic
experiences in Northampton's public schools. Nearly $45,000 in
grants was awarded to Northampton teacher-initiated projects
this year.

| Commonwealth
Opera |
Founded as Project Opera by Northampton's Richard R. Rescia in 1972,
the organization’s primary goal was to promote the art of grand opera.
Since 1989, the company has produced one full-scale opera and one fully
staged musical theater work every season, with audiences averaging close
to 2,000 for each production. Now called the Commonwealth Opera of Western
Massachusetts, it performs primarily in Northampton |

Bike Trail |
The trail follows the former Boston and
Maine Railroad right of way for ten miles through the towns of
Northampton, Hadley, and Amherst. Its
gentle grade and smooth surface create perfect conditions for
cyclists, skaters, walkers, runners, and cross country skiers of all ages
and abilities. This site has a bit of the trail's history as well as
some practical rules and regulations governing the trail's use.
